Videog Game Wall Art

I have finally started up on some more metal work.

These are the all the ones I have finished programming so far. I still need to give them some basic paint after they have been cleaned up, like the companion cube. There are some more ideas in the works, mostly video game related. I could make an actual companion cube by welding 6 of them together, maybe it would be a good end table or a lamp shade if its smaller sized ones.

More wedding Prep

So we are getting very close to the wedding date 6/26, and we have been finishing up a lot of projects for it.

Over the weekend we finished up the cake stand, it is mostly designed by my father and his friend. We assembled it Saturday and I painted it. The base and platters are made from steel cut on a our plasma cutter. The rest is heavy piping and fittings. it weighs at least 100 pounds, most likely more than that.

I have fully assembled the Cane, Scepter, and Cake Topper. All that is left is to finish painting and decorating them. I should have more images and details posted later this week.

Wedding supplies

My fiancee and I have been prepping for our steampunkish themed wedding. I have been making some things for decorations and painting and modifying some Nerf guns for playing around with.

Here is my first attempt at mad scientist lights.

These took maybe an hour to make after I had all the parts gathered. I should use a drill press next time. The last of the socket holes cracked the lid and a hand drill isn't easy to use with a flat bit. I would preferred to have used a dial switch, this one was the cheapest but it gets the job done.

Here are two of the Nerf guns I have painted so far

I think the one with blue accents turned out better, the flash makes it look a lot lighter then it really is, the red one may be look better in a well lit area or under sunlight, i can't tell yet as there hasn't been much sun in the N.W. for now. The metal paints are different on the guns, the blue is brass and the red is dark copper.

My next big projects for the wedding are a cane, scepter, and the wedding cake topper. We will be decorating mini-top hats and the parasols we bought recently as well.

Prototype Wings

Here are some wings I have been designing, currently made of cardboard, string and some misc hardware. I still need to figure out which movement method to use. My ideas are ranging from cheap string and pulley method, simple pnuematics, or if i ever have extra cash to spare a linear actuator.

The wings when finalized will probably be made of either steel (heavy), aluminum (light), or wood with brass accents to steampunk it up a bit.

Project Queue

Everyone has the first blog post, so I might as well get it out of the way.

Here are some of the things I have made, can make, or that I am currently working on. My lack of work space make things a little complicated to start or finish things.

Here is my attempt at the Shishkebab from Fallout 3. As you can see it was not made to be exact. It does have a real gas tank and brake/grip from a motorcycle. The blade isn't from a lawn mower, as they usually have bends and holes in them. I had attempted to sell it on Ebay but had no takers.

Some belt buckles, Bottom two from the plasma cutter. I have misplaced the Batman one around the house. The NES (not shown) ones I have sold and not yet replinished.

A quick (somewhat sloppy) prop I made for my Dr. Horrible costume a few Halloweens ago.

The inside of the prop just for show. The tubes glow blue, I couldn't find a spare 9v to power them for the photo.

That's it for now,
